There’s going to be the release of a Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Season Pass then the main content drops on 1 October, but what exactly will that look like? The aim of content like this is ostensibly tor reward players for constant participation in the season, though it’s a marked change from Destiny 2’s usual flavor of the day considering that RNG has been a big part of this Bungie game for a long time. Having consistent, fixed rewards to grind to is going to be nice, but what will that process look like? Our Destiny 2 Battle Pass guide is going to tell you more.
Destiny 2 Battle Pass Guide: Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Season Pass Info
First of all, let’s talk cost. How the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Season Pass system is going to work is that players are essentially going to have two different experiences depending on whether or not they’re shelling out for the premium Battle Pass or not. Fun facts: it’s going to cost $10.
Whether or not you shell out for the premium track of the Season Pass, you’re going to be dealing with 100 ranks per season that you can blow through as a player in Destiny 2. In case you’re wondering how this works in practice: everyone is going to get the latest Season of content (Season of the Undying) with Shadowkeep. Going forward, though, Seasons will be available to be purchased separately for $10. Players can earn rewards for free without owning any DLC or any seasonal content. But if you buy a season for $10, you’ll then be purchasing what’s known as the premium Season Pass experience where you earn your rewards a little bit faster. We’ve broken down some of the rewards that Bungie has teased so far for you if you’re a premium Season Pass owner versus a free Season Pass owner:
Premium Destiny 2 Battle Pass
- Exotic Hand Cannon, Eriana’s Vow, available from Rank 1
- Legendary Vex armor available from Rank 1
- Weekly challenges with special rewards
- Legendary weapons and ornaments
- Universal ornaments for each class
- Exotic ornament for Eriana’s Vow
- Exotic emote
- Exotic ship
- A new finisher
Free Destiny 2 Battle Pass
- Exotic Hand Cannon, Eriana’s Vow, available from Rank 35
- Legendary Vex armor available from Rank 25
- Legendary weapons
- Year 2 bright engrams
- Upgrade modules
The Battle Pass system that’s being adopted here isn’t anything new in the scheme of games with revolving content, but it’s nice to see it being implemented by Bungie in a way that’s friendly on the wallet. While free track players are going to have to grind a little more to get the same rewards, it looks like a lot of the perks that affect performance in the game i.e. legendary weapons and armor are available across both anyway, so it shouldn’t feel like anyone’s pulling too far ahead of the pack if they’re choosing to shell out the $10. While we haven’t really heard any more about how grinding will work mechanically, it’s a good start!
